It was a great honour to judge the club’s Southern Open show and I thoroughly enjoyed my day with some top class Miniature Pinschers to go over. I found them all to be fit and healthy with not too much variation in type and size, which made my task quite hard especially in the limit and open classes. I was pleased to see a number of promising youngsters, although some would benefit from some more practice and ringcraft to show off their qualities to greater advantage.

MPD (1)

  1. Shepherd’s Shetopa King of Arabia. Red youngster with a pleasing head and expression, well set on ears and small dk eye, he has jet-black pigmentation too. Straight front, with tight elbows, chest still needs to drop a little, level topline and gd tail set, moves soundly. BPD.

PD (2)

  1. Frost’s Adurus Circle Of Fire Over Lukatime.  Red youngster, attractive head with neat well placed ears. Reachy neck, firm body and topline, appears a little long cast at the moment and chest needs to drop a little. Well-angulated quarters. Needs a little more ringcraft training and practice to get the best out of him.

  2. Kirby’s Kirbsea Happy As Larry. B/t and in a slightly bigger mould than the winner, I felt could perhaps lose a little weight to advantage. Nice straight front, moderate angulations, correct makings and in gleaming jacket. Giving his handler a hard time on the move, so difficult to assess his movement, another that would benefit from some more practice.

JD (3,1abs)

  1. Cousin’s Estivals Airbourne Magic. Mature b/t, his square well balanced outline appealed to me at once, deep chest, firm topline, v gd angulations and tailset. Straight, with tight elbows, alert expression, although his head is just a little broader than I prefer, v gd earset, dk eye and nose.  Well schooled and moves out well.

  2. Frost’s Adurus Circle Of Fire Over Lukatime. Whilst I preferred his head, this pup isn’t a mature as the winner and not so settled on the move.

SYD (2,1abs)

  1. Cousin’s Estivals More Wishes For Lukatime. B/t of gd size, straight front, nice length of neck, well-laid shoulders, deep chest and gd turn of stifle, tail set on correctly and carried well. Pleasing head, flat skull, neat ears and small dk eye. Moves soundly enough, handler just needs to get his attention to show off his virtues to greater advantage.

Tyro (1)

King’s Adurus Tiger Claw JW. Super red youngster, shows really well for his handler. I liked his size and balanced square outline, reachy elegant neck; gd lay of shoulder and straight front. V pleasing head and alert expression, level firm back and excellent tailset. Gd stifles and sound as a bell on the move, shows the desired hackney action.  Some maturing still to do, I thought him really promising and should with luck make top honours.

PGD (1)

  1. Santoriello’s Dimogen Atomic Charge To Pinicio. Mature red dog, I liked his square well balanced outline. Attractive head and expression, neat ears, elegant neck, gd lay of shoulder, deep chest, firm topline and well-angulated quarters. Tail not used to advantage today. Moved out well and presents a pleasing picture particularly in profile.

LD (4,1abs) A strong class, just splitting hairs.

  1. Santorello’s Dobenar’s Jeddah For Noiratan. B/t male just preferred his slightly better neck and shoulder placement today. He has a pleasing head and alert expression, neat ears. Elegant neck, deep chest, gd tuck up, level topline and v gd tail set.  Correct hind angulations, a tad close behind on the move today, but sound otherwise.

  2. Burns’ Impala Always The Sun. Lots to like about this boy just felt he was perhaps carrying a tad too much weight over his shoulders. Super head and alert expression. He has a really gd front with tight feet, firm short coupled body and gd turn of stifle. Moves soundly.
  3. Gentle’s Dimogen All Foxed Up

OD (8,2abs)

  1. Santorello’s Ch Hillspan Juggernaut For Noiratan ShCM. Stood out for me today, mature b/t, ideal size and well proportioned throughout. Super head and expression, flat skull, ears set on and carried well, gd length of neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest, short coupled and in fit condition.  Sound as a bell on the move with desired hackney movement. Complemented the BB winner so well, just pipped by her more animated performance. BD & BOS

  2. Cooper’s Marlipins Golden Fleece. Similar size and shape, liked his head, v gd eye and dk nose.  Straight front, lovely length if neck, gd lay of shoulder, deep chest, firm topline, moves out well.
  3. Ch Sanzinia Tonto at Hillspan JW

VD (1)

  1. Smith-Wilson’s Ch Hillspan Lone Ranger. Fit as a fiddle this b/t has a super head and alert expression, tans fading a little as you would expect, but does not detract in any way. Straight front with tight feet, deep chest, gd tuck up, firm level back, well angulated quarters and excellent tailset. Sound as they come, really nice dog in gleaming condition and handled so well. He really impressed me and I was pleased to award him RBD, BVD and BVIS.

MPB (2) both very promising, I thought the winner was a little more forward at this early stage.

  1. Duguid & Gentle’s Alcum Hot Antics.  What a lovely young lady, feminine head, with bright alert expression, v dk eye and nose and neat ears. She is well made throughout, gd size for age, straight front, deep chest, level firm topline, and her coat is in gleaming condition.  Promising movement, v nice indeed. BPB and BPIS.

  2. Shepherd’s Adurus Ring Of Fire Of Shetopa. Pretty red bitch, again super head, and dk eye and gd ear set. Straight front, chest needs to drop a little more yet, level topline, another who shows much promise, movement ok, jumping around a bit so difficult to assess properly.

PB (2)

  1. Park’s Rayjen Sherry Trifle. Just preferred the head of this b/t baby at this stage. Pleasing head, neat well placed ears and small dk eye.  Square outline, straight front, deep chest, gd tuck up and firm topline and rear angulations, in presented in gleaming coat. When she got her act together on the move, she looked a picture, v promising.

  2. Kirby’s Kirbsea Happiness. This young lady is a little bit longer in the head than the winner, so some filling out and developing still to do I would think.  Firm front, level topline, appears a shade longer cast at the moment so not quite so square in outline, correct rear angulations, but erratic on the move, will need plenty of time and a ring training to show off her virtues.

SYB (4,3abs)

  1. Holman’s Adurus Tiger Lily At Ashdobpins. Naughty but nice this red young lady. I liked her square shape and well-balanced outline, pleasing feminine head, small dk eye and well placed ears. Firm front, with gd feet, gd shoulders placement and deep chest. Moves ok, looks really gd in profile, rear movement just needs to settle, great attitude, but would like to see her settle to the task in hand to show off her many virtues.

NB (3,2abs)

Graham’s Rodridge Band Of Gold at Xilvar. Pretty red with pleasing feminine head, dk eye and nose but not using her ears. Straight front, deep chest, firm topline. In lovely coat and condition, not using her tail either so well today, time and confidence should hopefully help her. Moved out well, but not quite enough lift at front.

Tyro (2,1abs)

Graham’s Gerenuk Galilean Moon at Xilvar. Young b/t bitch, I liked her size and square shape. Small neat ears, pretty head, but not using her ears. Nicely marked, deep chest, gd tuck up and turn of stifle, tail set a bit low. Moved well enough, rear movement needs to settle, not making the most of herself in the ring and needs to be more outgoing, a pity as she is a really nice bitch.  Just needs time and plenty of practice to build her confidence.

PGB (4,1abs)

  1. Coull’s Vardenais Just A Thought. B/t attractive head, bright expression and neat ears that she used well all the time.  Straight front, reachy neck flowing into correctly placed shoulders with deep chest and well-made body. Tail bang on top. Sound and free mover.  Preferred her tailset to the second.

  2. Osborne’s Sanzinia Trudie’s Angel. V similar in size and type to winner, she presents a well-balanced outline.  V feminine head and alert expression. Deep chest, level topline, tail dropped occasionally, all topped off with a gleaming correctly marked coat.  But close up and lots to admire about this lovely bitch.
  3. Holman’s Adurus Tiger Lily At Ashdobpins

LB (6,2abs)

  1. David’s Polmadann Red Hot Bebop At Keehoo.  A most attractive red bitch, presents a nice square well constructed outline, super head, neat ears, and dk eye and nose. Straight front, tight feet, reachy neck, deep chest and short coupled. V gd stifles, correct tailset.  Moves out well and freely and excellent showgirl. Close up in challenge.

  2. Smith-Wilson’s Impala Follow The Sun to Hillspan. Close up to winner, this b/t lady is similar in size and shape, little bit more breath to cheeks than winner, small dk eye, v gd pigment. Reachy neck, well laid shoulders, deep chest, tight elbows and v gd stifle. Another who shows stylishly and looks great in profile.
  3. Shepherd’s Dobri’s Desert Queen Of Shetopa

OB (8,3abs). Absolutely super class, I liked them all!  In my view one of the most consistent classes for type and size, I was spoilt for choice.

  1. Park’s Ch Rayjen Angel’s delight. B/t bitch with a super square outline, pretty head, alert expression, super ears and dk eye. Straight firm front with neat feet, shapely cobby body, close fitting jacket and was immaculate turned out and presented. Super angulations; turn of stifle and so sound on the move, overall a first class bitch with attitude and showmanship that catches the eye.  I was more than happy to award her BB and BIS

  2. Burn’s Ch Impala Nice As Pie JW. Similar size and attributes and quality stamped throughout. She has a feminine head and bright expression, dk eye and nose although not using her ears quite so well as the winner today. Lovely neck and gd lay of shoulder, deep chest and gd tuck up. Sound as a bell and in first class coat and body condition. Pleased to award her RBB and RBIS well done.
  3. Coull’s Impala Chase The Sun To Vardenais

VB (3) Grand class of mature ladies, all keen and alert

  1. Osborne’s Sanzinia Pearl Of Malagasy. At 8 years, was the baby of the class, lovely for size and type, straight front, gd depth of chest, V pretty head, gd angulations, moves soundly and presented in first class order.

  2. Gentle’s Dimogen The Debutante. At 15 years, this lady belies her years, still a keen showgirl and moves out well. Pretty head, deep chest and still so fit for her age.
  3. Whetter’s Ch Vardenais Catcha Moonbeam.

Brace (2,1abs)

  1. Briggs & Elliott. Well-matched b/t pair who moved around the ring in harmony, v similar for breed type and size.

Sp Open Red D or B (6,3abs)

  1. David’s Polmadann Red Hot Bebop At Keehoo. Won on her maturity, size and shapely outline. Pretty head, square outline, moves out v well.

  2. Whetter’s Mandolais Magic Moment. Slightly bigger mould than the winner but pleasing for breed type, attractive head and expression. Needs to settle to the task in hand a little more to show off her virtues to greater advantage.
  3. Santoriello’s Dimogen Atomic Charge To Pinicio

Sp Open AOC D or B (3,1abs)

  1. Whetter’s Vardenais Alfie Moon of Mandolais. B/t boy preferred this boy’s head and eye shape. Gd depth of chest, firm level back, well-angulated quarters with coat in gleaming condition. Moves out well.

  2. Cousin’s Estivals Airbourne Magic.

Tubize Tackeri of Borneways Memorial Stakes Open (5,1abs)

  1. Whetter’s Mandolais Magic Moment. Pretty clear red bitch, liked her size and shape the best in this class. Attractive feminine head and expression, straight front, firm back, gd tuck up, moves out well.

  2. Whetter’s Vardenais Alfie Moon of MandolaisB/t dog, slightly bigger than winner. Gd depth of chest, firm level back, well-angulated quarters with coat in gleaming condition. Moves out well.
  3. Cousin’s Estivals Airbourne Magic
